SAN ANTONIO — A Texas escort who was accused of murdering her daughter pleaded not guilty Monday to first-degree murder.
Sheriff’s deputies said a 28-year-old Texas escort named Michelle McArthur was arrested Sunday night in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
McArthur has been accused of using her position as a escort to murder her daughter, Brittany McArthur, who was a 13-year old girl, in her home on Nov. 16.
Her father told authorities that she used a firearm to shoot her daughter five times.
The Oklahoma County district attorney said the investigation into McArthur’s death was continuing.
She was booked into the Travis County jail on Monday and was scheduled to be arraigned Monday morning.
Authorities said McArthur killed her daughter by hitting her with a metal pipe in her bedroom and setting the house on fire.
Authorities also said McArthors daughter was left in a coma for two weeks.
McArthur reportedly told authorities her daughter had recently been diagnosed with cancer.
McArthons attorney, Paul Riddle, said his client has a history of mental health issues and that her daughter’s death is not a suicide.
He said she has a mental health disorder.
