An officer and his partner have been charged with stealing an ambulance that was stolen from a man in the Bronx.
The NYPD said the car, which was parked in a Bronx neighborhood, was stolen at about 2:15 p.m. on Sunday.
It was recovered Monday.
The driver was arrested and charged with burglary and resisting arrest.
The man, who is in his 50s, told police he had a history of mental illness and had a vehicle taken from him by a man with whom he had an altercation.
The woman driving the ambulance was also taken into custody, the NYPD said.
The officers were released on bail.
